Preface
Our research area covers farm business management and rural planning. In particular, we conduct theoretical and empirical research focusing on the relationship between farming and the region, the people’s intentions and behavior relating to various organizations, and the design of systems. In research guidance, we emphasize three perspectives: practical, theoretical, and international.
Given the rapidly changing environment, presenting practical solutions to fit unique local conditions is required. Agriculture and rural areas are fundamentally influenced by the natural environment, local social relationships, policies, and technology. Our laboratory aims to develop professionals who have the skills and knowledge to be involved parties.
We will build a theoretical framework to explain the reality of agricultural and rural domains. Our guidance focuses on examining mainstream and state of art theories in related areas such as managerial science, economics, psychologies as well as farm business management.
In international situations with different natural environments, cultures, markets, and policies, experts’ contributions are called to solve the problems facing agriculture and rural areas. To have an in-depth knowledge of international research trends and actual conditions is important. More importantly, repeating intellectual processes of abstraction and concretion ―a process of drawing out essential principles from the observations, and a process of figuring out solutions to fit the actual circumstances of each country or region―is crucial.
